Fresh Probiotics in LiveBrew
Probiotics play an important role in our bodies that keeps us healthy and our body working well but there's a difference with fresh probiotics and freeze-dried (pills & powders) probiotics.
Probiotics are the good bacteria in our gut and that's where 70% of our immune system cells reside. Our gut bacteria can be affected by lifestyle, diet, stress, age and more so ensuring you get a regular amount of probiotics is important but what's fresh probiotics mean?
When thinking about probiotics, there's 2 key things to note. Firstly, probiotics must be alive when administered. Secondly, they must survive, intact, to reach the lower intestine where they do most of their work.
What do Probiotics do?
Probiotics are made up of good bacteria that helps keep your body healthy and working well. There are around 40 trillion bacteria in your body, most of which are in your intestines. This good bacteria helps you in many ways, including fighting off bad bacteria when you have too much of it, helping you feel better.
How do probiotics work?
The main job of probiotics, or good bacteria, is to maintain a healthy balance in your body. Think of it as keeping your body in neutral. When you are sick, bad bacteria enters your body and increases in number. This knocks your body out of balance. Good bacteria works to fight off the bad bacteria and restore the balance within your body, making you feel better.
Good bacteria keeps you healthy by supporting your immune function and controlling inflammation. Certain types of good bacteria can also:
- Help your body digest food.
- Keep bad bacteria from getting out of control and making you sick.
- Create vitamins.
- Help support the cells that line your gut to prevent bad bacteria that you may have consumed (through food or drinks) from entering your blood.
- Breakdown and absorb medications.
What's fresh probiotics?
Most probiotics are either freeze-dried powders or pills. These so-called "viable" microbes, which are not alive or active, are very fragile and vulnerable and do not do well moving through the acid and bile exposure in the upper GI tract. As a result, few ever wake up and get working. Further, freeze-dried cultures are very susceptible to rapid damage from exposure to air and humidity.
The Benefits of good gut health
Research has documented many different beneficial mechanisms of action for probiotic microbes and the organic acids produced by those microbes. These mechanisms of action affect everything from mood and anxiety, chronic disease, & skin health, to acute and chronic gut issues. Positive changes in your gut biome and gut health can provide increased energy, improved sleep, and other general benefits that emerge from improvements in the way the complex systems in your gut and body interact with each other.
How is LiveBrew different?
LiveBrew is a combination of lots of fresh, live, and active lactobacilli and other microbes, along with the beneficial metabolites (organic acids, mostly) produced by those microbes.
In 2010, BioBrew, the parent company of LiveBrew, began work in collaboration with Lincoln University, supported by Callaghan Innovation, to develop their prototype into a range of livestock and pet probiotic products. In 2017, the company worked with researchers from Callaghan Innovation to transfer the technology into a new human health product. The result was LiveBrew, a superior New Zealand product to promote ‘good’ bacteria to keep you and your gut happy and healthy.
LiveBrew is the only fresh probiotic with guaranteed viability throughout the entire shelf-life period. Most other products only provide consumers with the number of microbes present at the time of manufacture. LiveBrew guarantees its users that they will get the live & active microbes that they paid for.
